On n'est rien qu'une image, Man
Rien qu'un instantané
Un éclair de passage, Man
Que tu savais voler
Ta vie en filigrane, Man
Dans New York et Paris
Tes provocs et tes anagrammes
Tu vois comme ça s'oublie
Mais on se bat et on s'arrache l'âme
C'est pareil aujourd'hui
Et y a toujours des pyromanes
Qui démolissent notre vie
On n'est rien qu'une image, Man
Quand le film est fini
Ces beaux gestes qui se fânent, Man
Ces regards qui sourient
Cette futile élégance, ce charme
C'est l'image de la vie
Mais Montparnasse got the blues, Man

Michel Berger, born Michel Jean Hamburger (Paris, 1953 – Paris, 1992), was a French singer-songwriter and record producer. Considered one of the greatest exponents of French pop music, he achieved success in the 1970s and 1980s with songs like "Lucie", "Le Paradis blanc" and "On ira". Berger collaborated with numerous artists, including France Gall, whom he was married to from 1980 to 1986. His music is characterized by catchy melodies, poetic lyrics and a clear influence of progressive rock. Besides composing for himself, Berger wrote songs for other artists, including Dalida and Sheila. Among his most important albums are "L'amour à la française" (1980) and "Michel Berger" (1982). His premature death at the age of 39 left a void in the French music scene.

My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
