che è ricca di argomenti
non dice quel che accade o bluffa in malafede
o è in mano a deficienti.
Chissà se la giustizia
fa proprio il suo dovere
se tifa un po’ a sinistra o tifa per la destra

ci premia e ci castiga
si alza e poi si abbassa si scuote e resta fissa
ma a me che me ne frega.
Chissà se chi lavora
lavorerà in eterno
e se i disoccupati sono molto confortati
dai piani del governo.
Chissà se gli ospedali
son bene organizzati
se alleviano il dolore
chissà se con amore ammazzano i malati.
Chissà se la cultura
è un gioco di opinioni
se i nostri professori son veri pensatori
o un mare di coglioni.
Noi parliamo delle cose del mondo
discutiamo dei problemi di fondo
concludiamo nel buio più tremendo.
E non passa mai la voglia di sapere
ma non c'è più il gusto della verità
forse ci sarà chi ha voglia di capire
ma si ferma ai soliti mah!

si occupa di noi
se ha in mente nuove cose
se pensa un po’ al paese
o fa gli affari suoi.

di cui l'Italia abbonda
nel nostro parlamento

che alla bontà si ispira
abbraccia i poveretti

che sembra così seria
è fatta per contare, per farci comandare

in terra in cielo in mare
a volte è necessaria a volte umanitaria

dà qualche garanzia
chissà se giustamente fa schifo a tanta gente
questa democrazia.

Giorgio Gaber (pseudonym of Giorgio Gaberscik; 1937-2000) was an Italian singer-songwriter, playwright, actor, cabaret artist, guitarist and theatre director, considered one of the most important artists in Italian entertainment and music since the Second World War. Born in Milan to a family of Slovene origin, Gaber approached music at a young age, performing in Milanese venues and collaborating with some jazz musicians. In 1960 he debuted as a singer-songwriter at the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Il mio nome è", achieving modest success. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Gaber established himself as one of the most original and innovative singer-songwriters on the Italian scene, characterized by committed lyrics and experimental musicality. He collaborated with various artists, including Enzo Jannacci and Gino Paoli, and participated in numerous music festivals. Among his most representative songs are "La canzone del sole", "Il mio amico", "L'uomo che non c'è" and "Non ho paura". Gaber also dedicated himself to theatre direction, staging both his own works and those of other authors. His artistic career was marked by a strong social and political commitment, expressed through his songs and theatrical performances. Giorgio Gaber died in Milan in 2000 at the age of 63.
