David Jon Gilmour (March 6, 1946) is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer, and record producer, best known as a founding member and leader of Pink Floyd. Born in London, Gilmour began his musical career in the 1960s playing in various local bands before joining Pink Floyd in 1968.
