Slaget er tapt, krigen er forbi
Alt er feila, latterleg ideologi
Ein einskapleg tanke frå den reinaste idé
Alle var me brikker i ein uknuseleg armé
Eit rike verna av piggtråd og betong
Fri frå omverdas impulser og heslege folk
Ingen var større enn saka vår
Arbeidarar og bønder med like kår
Veit eg sikkert at det kjem atter ein dag
Då flagget skal heisast og riket reisast
Atterkomast skal vår allmektige stat
Vreid is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 2004 following the dissolution of Windir after the death of vocalist and founder Valfar (Valgeir Örnes). The name Vreid derives from the Old Norse word meaning "clash", reflecting the band's energetic and powerful music. The surviving members of Windir, particularly guitarist Sture Drevland and drummer Jørn H. Aase, have continued to carry on the legacy of the group with a sound that maintains the distinctive characteristics of Norwegian black metal: dark atmospheres, melancholic melodies, and lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and history. Among Vreid's most representative songs are "Sorg fra mærdomen", "Høyt over havet" and "Fylgja". The album "I Krigens Nat" (2010) is considered a turning point in the band's career, marking a greater musical maturity and a more experimental approach. Vreid has collaborated with artists such as Ivar Bjørnson of Emperor and has opened concerts for legendary bands like Mayhem.
