Sarcófago è stato un gruppo musicale brasiliano di thrash metal e death metal attivo dal 1985 al 2000. Fondato a São Paulo da Wagner Lamounier (voce) e Geraldo Minelli (chitarra), la band ha contribuito in modo significativo alla scena metal brasiliana, pur rimanendo spesso controversa per le sue sonorità aggressive e il testo provocatorio. Lamounier, noto anche per essere stato il primo cantante dei Sepultura, ha dato voce a un sound crudo e potente che ha influenzato numerose band del genere. Tra i brani più rappresentativi di Sarcófago si ricordano "The Evil Has Come", "Satanic Lust" e "I Am the Beast". L'album "Rotting Flesh" (1987) è considerato un classico del thrash metal brasiliano, con la sua atmosfera cupa e le performance brutali. La band ha cessato l'attività nel 2000, lasciando un'eredità significativa nella storia del metal estremo.
