Georges Moustaki, born Yussef Mustacchi in Alexandria, Egypt on May 3, 1934, is a French singer-songwriter of Greek Sephardic origin. Known for his poetic rhythm, eloquent simplicity, and hundreds of romantic songs, Moustaki has collaborated with artists like Edith Piaf, for whom he composed famous songs such as «La Vie en rose». His musical style is a mix of French chanson, Greek folk music, and Middle Eastern influences. Among his most important albums are «Le Chant du Monde» (1967) and «Moustaki chante Moustaki» (1980). Some of his most representative songs include: «Le Môme Piaf», «La Ballade de la Rue des Amants», «L'Amour est un oiseau rebelle».
