Linton Kwesi Johnson (Kingston, December 21, 1952) is a Jamaican singer-songwriter and poet considered one of the pioneers of Dub Poetry. His music blends elements of reggae, dub, and spoken word poetry, often focusing on social and political themes such as racial discrimination, colonial oppression, and the fight for civil rights. Johnson began performing in the 1970s, quickly gaining a reputation for his energetic performances and political commitment. Among his most representative songs are "Dread Beat an' Blood", "Sonny's Lettah" and "Fyah Fyah". In 1980 he released the album "Forces of Victory", considered a classic of the Dub Poetry genre. Johnson continues to perform worldwide, promoting his music as a tool for protest and social awareness.
