der Barden und der Sänger hin.
Sie sollten spielen ihre Lieder.
Ihm zu frönen - dass der Sinn.
Dem Sieger winkte Gold und Silber.
Und so eilten sie herbei.
Die Luft erfüllt von ihren Klängen,
ein großes Fest für das Volk dabei.
Viele hatten schon gesungen,
als ein junger Mann trat vor:
"Darf ich Euch mein Liedlein singen?"
Der Pöbel johlte laut im Chor.
Lied 1:
Ein König brachte Kriege einst,
zerstörte meine Stadt,
und meinen Bruder schlug er tot,
den Einz'gen, den ich hatt'
Da war der Barde plötzlich still,
das Volk blickt sich verwundert an.
Der Fürst meint: "Soll das alles sein?
Hat das Lied nur einen Reim?"
Der Sänger hob hob erneut die Stimme,
Stille herrschte um ihn her,
jeder lauschte ganz gebannt
der zweiten Strophe umso mehr.
Lied 2:
Ich nahm ein Schwert
und tat den Schwur,
der Rache und des Rechts,
nach vielen Jahren steh' ich hier,
die Klinge nach dir lechzt.
Mit diesen Worten zieht er blank,
durchbohrt des Fürsten böses Herz.
Als dieser tot am Boden liegt,
des Barden Herz ist frei von Schmerz.
"Ein Lied hab' ich noch zu singen!",
schreit Sänger hin zum Volk.
"Dann könnt Ihr mich
zum Galgen bringen,
wenn Ihr es dann noch wollt.

Jetzt ist er tot, die Rache mein,
das Liedlein endet hier.
Hört mir nur zu, den vor Euch steht
der Sieger vom Turnier.
