CCCP is a Russian rock band formed in Moscow in 1986. Considered pioneers of the Soviet rock movement, they gained widespread popularity in the 1980s and 1990s with their music that blended elements of punk rock, new wave, and progressive rock. The name CCCP (acronym for USSR in Russian) reflects the historical and political context of the time. Their song lyrics often addressed social and political themes, criticizing the Soviet system but also celebrating some of its aspects. Among their most famous songs are "Let's Spend the Night Together", "American-Soviets", and "The World". CCCP released several successful albums, including "Cosmos" (1987) and "Best of CCCP" (1990). After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the band disbanded in 1991.
