The Pogues are an Anglo-Irish folk punk band active in the 1980s and 1990s. Founded in London in 1982 by Shane MacGowan (vocalist) and Jem Finer (guitar), the group managed to blend traditional Irish influences with an energetic rock sound, creating a unique genre that made them iconic. Despite internal difficulties and MacGowan's addiction, The Pogues left an indelible mark on folk punk music, influencing generations of artists.
