Leon Russell, born Claude Russell Bridges (1942-2016), was a legendary American musician, singer, and songwriter. Born in Oklahoma City, Russell began his musical career at the age of 15 playing in local venues in his home state. Throughout the 1960s, he established himself as a highly talented session musician, collaborating with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Joe Cocker, and George Harrison. In 1970, he released his self-titled debut album, which achieved moderate success. His musical style was a fusion of rock, soul, blues, and country, influenced by artists like Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis. Among his most famous songs are "This Masquerade", "Tight Rope", and "A Song for You". In 1972, he released the album "Carney", considered one of his finest works, which included the single "Superstar". Throughout his long career, Russell collaborated with numerous world-renowned artists, including Elton John, Willie Nelson, and Ringo Starr. He won a Grammy Award in 1973 for the song "This Masquerade" and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
