Born again harder
Than I was before
Bringing the hammer down
Is more than metaphor
I live by the steel
Die by the blade
What reason is there to be
If you're living life afraid?
[Chorus:]
The hammer is my symbol
The banner that I wave
The motto of my creed
Carved upon my grave
I life for the here and now
I live for the knife
My coat of arms
Is the hammer and life
[Solo Gary]
[Solo Lee]
Fear and cowardice
Harbingers of demise
Strength and the will to fight
Will lead you to the prize
Glory to all of those
Who conquer to the end
Honor the hammer
On it you can depend
[Chorus]
Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in San Francisco, California. Considered one of the pillars of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, they are known for their aggressive sound, frenetic performances and often politically or socially charged lyrics. Exodus has influenced countless metal bands over the years. Some of their most representative songs include "Bonded by Blood", "Strike Every Chord" and "Pleasures of the Flesh". Their debut album, "Bonded by Blood" (1985), is considered a classic of the thrash metal genre, while "Fabulous Disaster" (1987) cemented their success. The band has gone through several lineup changes over the years, but Gary Holt, the guitarist, has been a constant presence since the band's formation. Exodus continues to be active and record new albums, maintaining a prominent place in the global metal scene.
