Madlib, real name Otis Jackson Jr., is an American beatmaker, record producer, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist born in Los Angeles in 1973. Considered one of the most influential hip hop producers of his time, Madlib is known for his eclectic style that blends elements of jazz, funk, soul, psychedelia, and electronic music. He began his career in the 1990s collaborating with artists like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. In 2004, he founded the hip hop collective Lootpack alongside DJ Romes and Wildchild. Madlib is also a member of the rap duo Jurassic 5 and has worked with a wide range of artists, including MF DOOM, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, and Freddie Gibbs. Some of his most important albums include "Shades of Blue" (2003), "Madvillainy" (2004) in collaboration with MF DOOM, and "Medicine Show" (2019). Some of his most representative tracks are "The Beatnuts - Check the Rhime", "MF DOOM - Rhymes Like Dimes", "Jurassic 5 - What's Golden".
