Laulaa metsä
kesäillan hämärässä
sävelet soivat
kuolevasta joutsenesta
peittää laulun
hongan humu
pois kätkee yön utu
syntyy sävelet tuulesta
tuoksuista havumaan
Havuisissa saleissa
illan hämärtyessä
tenhi taivaltaa
kaukaa kantautuu
laulu yön lintujen
hiljaisissa saleissa
illan hämärässä
havumaa
Kerää havut
kerää kävyt
poimii sienet
marjat mättään
[English translation:]
[In The Halls Of Forest]
Forests choirs
in the summer's dim
the tune is set
of the dying swan
the song is hidden
by pine's rumble
and night's vapour
tunes from wind
from the smell of trees
In the halls of the forest
in the dim of evening
the seer strays
in the distance
nightbirds yell
in the silent halls
in the dim
of the night
Cones
pines
mushrooms
are harvested
Tenhi is a Finnish neofolk music group formed in 1996. The name "Tenhi", meaning "village elder", "wise man", or "seer" in ancient Finnish, reflects the band's approach to music, which blends Finnish folk traditions with elements of dark ambient and ethnic music. The group is known for its melancholic and evocative atmospheres, created by melodies played on acoustic instruments such as guitar, flute, violin, and harp. The lyrics, often in ancient or modern Finnish, explore themes of nature, spirituality, and folklore. Among the most representative songs are "Aika", "Kuu" and "Tähtisumu". Tenhi has released several albums, including "Saaga" (2001), "Voima" (2004) and "Ukon Aamu" (2013). The band is considered one of the most influential in the international neofolk scene.
