Fa un certo effetto non capire bene
da dove nasce ogni tua reazione.
E tu stai vivendo senza sapere mai
nel tuo profondo quello che sei
quello che sei.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
che vivono in ogni uomo
nascosti nell'inconscio
sono un atavico richiamo.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
che vagano in ogni mente
sono i nostri oscuri istinti
e inevitabilmente
dobbiamo farci i conti.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
silenziosi e insinuanti
sono il gene egoista
che senza complimenti
domina e conquista.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
ci spingono alla violenza
che quasi per simbiosi
si è incollata
alla nostra esistenza.
La nostra vita civile
la nostra idea di giustizia e uguaglianza
la convivenza sociale
è minacciata
dai mostri che sono la nostra sostanza.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
i mostri che abbiamo dentro.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
ci fanno illanguidire
di fronte a quella cosa
che spudoratamente
noi chiamiamo amore.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
sono insaziabili e funesti
sono il potere a tutti i costi
ma anche chi lo odia
soltanto per invidia.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
ci ispirano il grande sogno
di un Dio severo e giusto
col mitico bisogno
di Allah e di Gesù Cristo.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
ci inculcano idee contorte
e il gusto sadico e morboso
di fronte a immagini di morte.
La nostra vita cosciente
la nostra fede nel giusto e nel bello
è un equilibrio apparente
che è minacciato
dai mostri che abbiamo nel nostro
cervello.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
crescono in tutto il mondo
i mostri che abbiamo dentro
ci stanno devastando.
I mostri che abbiamo dentro
che vivono in ogni mente
che nascono in ogni terra
inevitabilmente
ci portano alla guerra.
Giorgio Gaber (pseudonym of Giorgio Gaberscik; 1937-2000) was an Italian singer-songwriter, playwright, actor, cabaret artist, guitarist and theatre director, considered one of the most important artists in Italian entertainment and music since the Second World War. Born in Milan to a family of Slovene origin, Gaber approached music at a young age, performing in Milanese venues and collaborating with some jazz musicians. In 1960 he debuted as a singer-songwriter at the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Il mio nome è", achieving modest success. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Gaber established himself as one of the most original and innovative singer-songwriters on the Italian scene, characterized by committed lyrics and experimental musicality. He collaborated with various artists, including Enzo Jannacci and Gino Paoli, and participated in numerous music festivals. Among his most representative songs are "La canzone del sole", "Il mio amico", "L'uomo che non c'è" and "Non ho paura". Gaber also dedicated himself to theatre direction, staging both his own works and those of other authors. His artistic career was marked by a strong social and political commitment, expressed through his songs and theatrical performances. Giorgio Gaber died in Milan in 2000 at the age of 63.
