di strade sconosciute ai passi miei
che suonano indiscreti come chi
violasse un mondo mai trovato

Si avvicina lentamente a me
resta in ombra il viso per un po'
è una donna e sembra sia
pur presente e viva
un'immagine sospesa nel tempo
nata alla mente
prima che agli occhi miei.
È un ritratto della fantasia
chiedo dove sono e lei chi sia
lei risponde: Vieni e poi
tu potrai vedere
ciò che il vento e il sole sanno da sempre
ciò che spiegarti

voce di donna di stanca età
come una preghiera triste a chi si appresta al viaggio
quando tornerai lo sento
figlio io sarò nel vento
possa il mondo risparmiarti
per colei che in mente hai.
E solitario un canto di fanciulla in una stanza vuota
dietro una finestra chiusa in pianto si tramuta
fra pareti nude che il silenzio consumò
e la mente incerta a cosa esiste e cosa no.
Poi la sconosciuta a un tratto il viso mi rivela
ne riscopro i tratti dolci gli occhi d'acqua pura
trasparente contro il sole l'abito di lei
ricomposta immagine di voci udite già.
Non violata dall'iniquo tempo
sola e viva dove vive ormai
fredda l'eco di remote ombre
cui sottrarla solo io potrei
prendo le sue mani e breve e intenso è il suo respiro.
Tace il vento sulle pietre bianche
anche il sole sembra attento a noi
cade il velo che l'attesa antica
forte e fragile le ricamò.
Cade giù da un muro un sasso rotola e si ferma.
L'aria si chiude al silenzio e poi
s'alza la polvere intorno a noi
io chiudo gli occhi li riapro e...
