Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band formed in 1984. Founded by guitarist and composer Jon Schaffer, the group has gone through several lineup changes over the years, but the current lineup includes Schaffer himself alongside Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals), Troy Seele (guitar), Dennis Hayes (bass) and Brent Smedley (drums).
