Francesco De Gregori (Rome, April 4, 1951) is an Italian singer-songwriter considered one of the most important and influential of his generation. Known as "Il Principe Poeta" for the elegance and depth of his lyrics, De Gregori began a successful musical career in the 1970s with albums like "Alice" (1973) and "Bufalo Bill" (1975). His songs, often characterized by melancholic and reflective atmospheres, explore themes such as love, loneliness, identity search and the relationship with society. Among his most famous songs are "Generale", "Azzurro", "La donna cannone" and "Com'è profondo il mare". De Gregori has collaborated with numerous Italian artists, including Lucio Dalla and Antonello Venditti. Over the years he has won several music awards, including the Tenco Award for his career. Besides music, De Gregori is also dedicated to producing organic extra virgin olive oil under the label "Le Palombe".
