Celtic Frost was a Swiss heavy metal band from Zurich. Considered pioneers of extreme metal, particularly black metal, they heavily influenced the underground music scene of the 1980s and 1990s. Active from 1984 to 1993, the group reunited in 2001 before disbanding again in 2008 following the departure of founder Tom Gabriel Fischer.
