Zeal and Ardor è un progetto musicale avant-garde metal nato in Svizzera nel 2013 dall'ingegno di Manuel Gagneux, cantante e polistrumentista. Il gruppo fonde elementi di black metal, blues, gospel e musica tradizionale americana, creando un sound unico e provocatorio che ha attirato l'attenzione della critica internazionale. Gagneux, nato in Svizzera da padre svizzero e madre statunitense, si è trasferito negli Stati Uniti durante la sua infanzia. La sua formazione musicale è eterogenea, spaziando dal rock al jazz, ma è il suo interesse per la musica americana del XIX secolo a influenzare profondamente lo stile di Zeal and Ardor. Il debutto omonimo del 2016 ha ricevuto un'accoglienza entusiasta e ha consacrato il gruppo come una delle realtà più innovative della scena metal contemporanea.
