Allison Flower is an Italian musical group formed in Reggio Calabria in 2001 by Joss and Luis, two former schoolmates passionate about music, particularly bands like Soundgarden, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and The Beatles. The original name of the group was Spleen, inspired by Joss's passion for Charles Baudelaire's poetry. The first songs were characterized by anger and melody, with a simple and direct structure and a raw musical style. Their live debut took place at the I-Tim 2001 tour in Reggio Calabria, where they performed the song "Song of Swan" in front of thousands of people. In 2002 Pier joined the group, and Spleen participated in numerous contests such as Arezzo Wave, Pistoia Blues and Tim Tour 2002, also recording a demo in a professional studio in Cosenza. Over the years, the band's musical style has evolved, becoming more articulated and aggressive. In 2003 they won the Rock contest of Cosenza, participating in a compilation of local bands from Calabria and recording a new demo with four studio tracks and one live track. In 2004, with the help of two local directors, they made a music video for the song "Time's Rail". In 2005 Mark joined the group, coming from the band Mas Ruido, bringing with him great live experience. The musical style and live performances evolved further, becoming more powerful and dynamic. After a warm-up period characterized by concerts and contest participation (Universound 2006, Arezzo Wave 2005-2006, Tim Tour 2005, DemoRaiFest 2006), the group recorded their first album "Naked to nothing" at Alpha Omega studios in Como with Alex Azzali as producer. In March 2007, "Naked to nothing" was included in the radio program "The Best of Demo" (Radio Uno Rai) among the most interesting albums of emerging bands.
