Alcatrazz is an American hard rock band formed in 1983 by Graham Bonnet (vocals), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards) and Gary Shea (guitar). The name of the band derives from a nickname given to a Spanish pirate crew. Following Bonnet's success with Rainbow, the lineup underwent several changes over the years, but always remained faithful to the powerful and melodic hard rock sound characterized by incisive guitar riffs and Bonnet's soaring vocals. Among the most representative tracks are "Island in the Sun", "Since You've Been Gone" and "All Night Long". The self-titled debut album was a commercial success in 1983. Alcatrazz contributed to defining the hard rock sound of the 1980s with its contagious energy and the technical skill of the musicians.
