L' automne tombe à grosses feuilles
Sur l 'avenue du Maine,
Des gens et leur valise s'étonnent.
Paris, que les fumées endeuillent,
Débute la semaine,
Comme chaque année, nous emprisonne.
Ah! Que l' automne est dur
Autre part que chez nous,
Tout s' arrête au dernier passage à niveau,
Nos aventures
S' effacent d' un seul coup
Et partent dans l' eau sale des caniveaux.
Dans un café rue du Départ,
Près d' la gare Montparnasse,
On arrive et l' on se reconnaît.
Sur une table, rue du Départ,
Des cafés noirs s' entassent
Et l' on ouvre son porte-monnaie.

Autre part que chez nous
Les années s' accumulent à chaque retour.
La déchirure
Marque chacun de nous
D' une plaie au cœur qu' on croit guérir un jour.
Alors, on retrouve les décors
Laissés là le mois dernier,
La Madeleine et Saint-Germain-Des-Prés.
Et puis, l' on se contente encore
Des allées de marronniers
Et des dimanches à Meudon- La-Forêt.
