10,000 Maniacs are an American alternative rock band formed in Jamestown, New York, in 1981. The band's name comes from a phrase in a poetry book by Emily Dickinson. The original lineup included Natalie Merchant (vocals), John Lombardo (guitar), Dennis Drew (keyboards) and Steven Gustafson (drums).
