You were tired of living
The solitary way it ended up
Watching your whole life become
Love on the run
How much time are we given
To find someone and tell 'em all apart?
Carving our names in the bark
What have we done?
Ooh, just a loving song, a loving song of freedom
Like I'm in danger
When there ain't nobody else
I put my heart back on the shelf
Turn into light
Took in all I was given
Erased it all to fake a work of art
Nothing to show for it all
Did I do my part?
Don't they say so?
Don't have to say goodbye
If you wanna, if you wanna
Leaving it all b?hind
If you wanna, if you wanna
Why don't you tell me lies
Don't you wanna, don't you wanna
Won't you b?gin to drive?
Ooh, just a loving song, a loving song of freedom
Like I'm in danger
When there ain't nobody else
I put my heart back on the shelf
Turn into light
Our lies like anybody else
All the countless turns we've taken for ourselves
And though we walk alone, the sun will shine again
The sun will shine again before we rise
Broken Bells is an American indie rock duo consisting of artist and producer Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, lead vocalist and guitarist for the Portland indie rock band The Shins. The project was first announced on September 29, 2009. Burton and Mercer met at the Roskilde Festival, a Danish music festival, in 2004 and discovered they were fans of each other's work. After four years of waiting, the two began collaborating secretly in March 2008 at Burton's Los Angeles-based studio. They describe their material as "melodic but experimental too". Their self-titled debut album, released in 2010, was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. Notable tracks include "The High Road", "Holding On For Life" and "After the Disco".
