Somber Light is an Italian musical group formed in late 2008. The original nucleus consisted of Carlo Polo (former Oversonic) on guitar and Leonardo Lucchese, a guitarist coming from a formation with Alessandro Damoli. They were joined by Francesco Danilo Felis on bass, childhood friend of Polo and former bassist of the Luiding, and Domenico Carnevale on drums, coming from jazz and the cover band Antimateria. After a brief period as a four-piece, the band continued as a trio following Lucchese's departure for work reasons. On May 2, 2009, they recorded their first self-titled demo, containing four tracks. In February 2011, their debut album "Akira" was released, an homage to the Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa. The album, composed of seven tracks recorded in the band's rehearsal space with the collaboration of Dork (former drummer of the Kreeps and now in the Backing Band Project), features evocative atmospheres, sonic destructions and noises from the depths. "Akira" was presented at the Latte + in Brescia.
