C'est l'histoire absurde, mais véridique
d'un oiseau névrosé, privé de voltige.
Tous les psychiatres s'interrogeaient...
Car elle ne décollait jamais
Pour quelle raison, pour quel secret ?
Mélanie Patterson, elle s'appelait.
Il y avait eu des cas presque identiques
Lion végétarien, chien qui miaulait !
Et au fond de l'océan Arctique
Une baleine retrouvée noyée.
Les mots "looping", "rase-mottes" et "piqué"
Lui faisaient perdre connaissance
Parachute ou pas, impossible de voler
Elle devait marcher, cruelle sentence.

Les hirondelles durent partir
L'abandonnant à son destin tragique.
Et ce fût la descente aux enfers
Désespérée, elle sombra dans l'alcool...
Abandonnée, sans père ni mère
On dit même qu'elle sniffa d'la colle...
Après une cuite monumentale
Elle décida de les rejoindre
Elle était peut-être anormale
Mais elle verrait l'Afrique avant de s'éteindre.
Elle prit ses disques des Bangles
Son couteau suisse et ses chaussures
Elle mit son badge "Say no to drugs"
Et partit pour l'aventure.
Non stop, pendant de longs jours
Elles fonça, tailla la route
Elle ne s'arrêtait que pour
Manger, et réparer son scoot.
Emprisonnée au Tchad, elle s'évada...
Dépouillée au Zaïre par des matelots
Le Zambèze en pirogue jusqu'au Botswana
Elle ne dût sa survie qu'à sa lacrymo.
Imaginez son désespoir
Lorsqu' arrivée à destination
Malheur il était trop tard...
C'était le printemps, le voyage fût trop long !
Le campement déserté
Les hirondelles avaient fait demi-tour
Papiers gras, sacs poubelle éventrés
Mélanie décida de mettre fin à ses jours.
Mais les contes ne se terminent jamais mal
Les enfants sont formels
Je dois trouver, moi aussi, c'est normal
Une fin plus traditionnelle.
Alors voilà la phrase habituelle...
Mélanie rencontra le prince charmant :
Monsieur Rico l'éléphant !
Ils vécurent heureux et eurent de nombreux enfants...
