Otis Ray Redding Jr. (1941-1967) è stato un cantante statunitense di soul, considerato uno dei più influenti artisti del genere. Nato a Dawson, Georgia, Redding iniziò la sua carriera musicale suonando in chiese e locali notturni del sud degli Stati Uniti. Nel 1962 firmò con la Stax Records, dove ottenne il successo con brani come "Respect" (cover di Aretha Franklin) e "Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fine".
