Unheilig is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band from Aachen. Founded in 1999 by frontman Bernd Heinrich Graf (Der Graf), who also writes the lyrics and sings, the band has achieved great success in Germany with their music that blends rock, electronic elements and folk melodies. Besides Der Graf, the current members are Henning Verlage, Christoph Termühlen and Martin Potthoff. Unheilig is known for its distinctive sound, theatrical performances and introspective lyrics often exploring themes of spirituality, love and the search for meaning. Some of their most representative songs include «Geboren um zu leben», «Lichter der Stadt» and «An deiner Seite». The album «Purgatory» (2005) is considered a turning point in their career, solidifying their national success.
