Urgehal are a Norwegian black metal band formed in Hønefoss in 1992. Considered one of the most influential bands in the genre, they helped define the aesthetics and sound of Norwegian black metal in the 1990s. Their musical style is characterized by dark atmospheres, fast and aggressive riffs, dark lyrics, and a prominent use of acoustic instruments.
