Roberto Alagna (born 7 June 1963) is a French operatic tenor of Sicilian descent. Born in Clichy-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, France, Alagna has gained international fame for his powerful and versatile voice, capable of tackling both dramatic and lyrical roles with great skill. After studying at the Paris Conservatory, he made his debut in 1989 at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Since then, he has sung at the world's most prestigious theaters, including the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the Royal Opera House of London, and La Scala of Milan. Among his most celebrated roles are Don José in Carmen, Radames in Aida, and the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto. Alagna is also known for his collaborations with important conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Daniel Barenboim.
