William Everett Preston, known as Billy Preston, was an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Houston, Texas, on August 2, 1946. Considered one of the most versatile musicians of his generation, he played piano, organ, keyboards, electric bass, drums, and percussion. His musical career began at the age of seven with the formation of a gospel group. At just fifteen years old, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue professional music. Throughout the 1960s, he collaborated with artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Wonder, helping to define the sound of progressive rock and soul music. Preston was also a respected composer and music producer, releasing several successful albums including "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" (1970) and "Billy Preston" (1972). He died in Los Angeles on June 6, 2006, at the age of 59. Among his most representative songs are "Outa-Space", "Will It Go Round in Circles", and "Nothing From Nothing".
