The curse of divinity...
Evoken is an American funeral doom metal band from Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Founded in 1992 by guitarist Nick Orlando under the name Funereus, the band went through several lineup changes before settling on the name Evoken in 1994. The influence of bands like Disembowelment (Australia) and Thergothon (Finland) is evident in their dark and atmospheric sound. The name Evoken derives from a Thergothon song found on the demo Fhtagn nagh Yog-Sothoth. Evoken has released several studio albums, including "The Whispering" (1998), considered a classic of the funeral doom genre, and "Atra Mors" (2003). The band is known for its intense and atmospheric live performances, which have led to tours in Europe and North America.
