Boards on the window
Mail by the door
What would anybody leave so quickly for?
Ophelia
Where have you gone?
The old neighborhood just ain't the same
Nobody knows just what became of
Ophelia
Tell me, what went wrong
Was it somethin' that somebody said?
Mama, I know we broke the rules
Was somebody up against the law?
Honey, you know I'd die for you
Ashes of laughter
The ghost is clear
Why do the best things always disappear
Like Ophelia
Please darken my door
Was it somethin' that somebody said?
Honey, you know we broke the rules
Wu somebody up against the law?
Honey, you know I'd die for you
They got your number
Scared and runnin'
But I'm still waitin' for the second comin'
Of Ophelia
Come back home
Mark Levon Helm (1940-2012) was an American musician, singer, and actor known internationally for his work as the drummer and lead vocalist of the legendary Canadian rock group The Band. Helm helped shape the sound of folk-rock in the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Arkansas, Helm began his musical career playing with various local bands before joining Bob Dylan in 1965 as a drummer for his world tour. In 1968, Helm founded The Band with other talented musicians, including Robbie Robertson and Rick Danko. The group achieved international fame with their debut album of 1969, *Music from Big Pink*, considered a masterpiece of folk-rock. Helm was known for his powerful and raspy vocal style, which gave The Band's songs a unique emotional charge. Among the group's most celebrated hits are *The Weight*, *Up on Cripple Creek*, and *The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down*. After The Band disbanded in 1976, Helm continued his musical career as a solo artist, releasing several successful albums. In 2005, Helm received the Grammy Award for the album *Dirt Farmer*, a project that blended elements of country and bluegrass. Throughout his long career, Levon Helm collaborated with numerous internationally renowned artists, including Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Paul Butterfield. In 2012, Helm died from brain cancer at the age of 71. His musical legacy continues to inspire generations of musicians.
