Angélique Kidjo (born Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo) is a Beninese singer-songwriter, widely considered one of the most influential contemporary African artists. Born in Ouidah in 1960, she began her musical career in the 1980s, performing in Cotonou clubs before moving to France in 1983. Throughout her long and prestigious career, Kidjo has embraced a variety of musical genres, including funk, jazz, reggae, Afro-Cuban music, and world music.
