Texas is a Scottish rock band from Bearsden, Glasgow. Founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone (formerly of Altered Images and Hipsway), the group made their live debut in March 1988 at the University of Dundee in Scotland. The name comes from Wim Wenders' 1984 film *Paris, Texas*. Their debut album, *Southside*, was released in 1989 along with the debut single «I Don't Want a Lover», a worldwide success that reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart and high positions in Europe. *Southside* debuted at number 3 in the United Kingdom and number 88 on the US Billboard 200 album charts. Their second album, *Mothers Heaven*, was released in 1991, reaching number 32 on the UK Album Charts; their third studio album, *Ricks Road*, charted at number 18 in the UK. Some of the band's most representative songs include «Say What You Want», «In Demand» and «Black Eyed Boy».
