Tame Impala is the musical project of Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Kevin Parker. Born in Perth in 1986, Parker began his musical career in the early 2000s with the idea of creating a contemporary psychedelic sound that drew inspiration from music of the 1960s and 1970s. The name "Tame Impala" comes from an imaginary animal, a hybrid between a kangaroo and a hippopotamus, which Parker invented during his childhood.
