Abbiam la libertà di esporre i panni al vento
nell'ore consentite dal regolamento
Abbiam la libertà di attraversare i viali
fruendo delle strisce pedonali.
D'appenderci sui tram al mancorrente
di scendere e salire ripetutamente.
Di far firmare il padre o chi ne fa le veci
ed innalzare al cielo laudi e preci.
Eppoi la libertà,
dove la mettiamo
d'emettere un assegno,
di sporgere reclamo,
d'evadere le pratiche
emarginare i codici
estendere le analisi
estinguere i depositi?

dovete credere è un gran pericolo
lasciar permettere siffatte libertà.
La libertà di sesso
di mistificazione
d'accattonaggio
di supposizione.
La libertà di moto
e, questo ci conforta,
la libertà di palpo e manomorta.
La libertà di fumo
la libertà d'ingresso
quella d'affermare
«c'accà nisciuno è fesso!»
Di stendere verbali
spedire contrassegno,
la libertà di nuoto
e tiro a segno.
D'emettere cambiali
condurre cani sciolti
di tutelar minori capovolti.
Di battere primati
di catturare vermi
di far votare suore, frati e infermi.
Ammesso e non concesso
che l'italiano medio è un poco fesso
è democratico, ma è un gran pericolo
lasciar permettere troppe libertà.
E non abbiam parlato
di libertà di stampa
la carta ed i caratteri
nessun vi mette zampa.
E poi la libertà cosiddetta di pensiero:
poter pensare un gatto od un veliero!
La libertà di sogno: sognare donne nude
d'andare in aeroplano alle Bermude,
eppoi la libertà che a queste s'accompagna
è di salir lassù sulla montagna.
E là in questa Italia
che al rosso dei vulcani
accosta il verde degli ippocastani
e il magico candore delle sue nevi annali
che cosa ci consentono
