Running Wild is a historic German heavy metal band formed in Hamburg in 1976. Considered pioneers of the "pirate metal" genre, they introduced the pirate theme into heavy metal music with the album *Under Jolly Roger* (1987), abandoning the satanic themes present in their earlier works.
