HammerFall is a Swedish heavy metal band from Gothenburg. Formed in 1993 by guitarist Oscar Dronjak, former member of Ceremonial Oath, the group quickly gained popularity thanks to its epic and melodic sound, inspired by the great classics of the '80s power metal like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. HammerFall is considered one of the cornerstones of the European melodic death metal movement, with a significant influence on the global heavy metal scene.
