Don Dixon è un musicista, produttore discografico e compositore statunitense nato a 1953. Noto per il suo lavoro con artisti come R.E.M., The Smithereens e Los Lobos, Dixon ha contribuito a definire l'indi-rock degli anni '80. Inizia la sua carriera negli anni '70 suonando in band locali prima di trasferirsi a New York nel 1979. Inizia a produrre artisti indipendenti e si guadagna una reputazione per il suo sound caldo e organico. Nel 1983 forma i The Rubinoos, con cui pubblica l'album "The Rubinoos" (1984). Nel corso degli anni '80 produce numerosi album di successo per artisti come R.E.M., The Smithereens e Los Lobos.
