I wish I had a heart
I'd call it tiger
And wrapped in silver thread
I'd tie it to my chest
To bring you home
I wish I had a car
And bits of wire
To tie you to the seat
I'd drive you to the beach
And keep on going
And I know when I've been stung
When I'm trapped inside my bed
Feel my flesh begin to swell
i'm an evil shade of red
I hate the taste of skin
It's terrifying
Reminds me of the truth
That biting bits of you
Can bring you home
And I hate
One sweet taste
And these miricals
I feel it in my skin
Know in my head
When you touch me
I am still awake at night
in my dreams
When my eyes are full of
Pictures of the day
But not quite right
just to bring you home
I'm so lucky
I can pick my feelings
I never want to cry
I'm so ugly
But I want to pick my feelings
So I choose not to mind
It's true
To you
It must seem sad
I know
It all
But I'm not sad belive me
'Cos I choose not to be
I wish I had the skill
To stop my thinking
Concentrate each breath
To make sure that it's done
It's not instinctive
Kenickie were a four-piece punk band from Sunderland, UK. Formed in 1994, the band consisted of lead vocalist, guitarist and lyricist Lauren Laverne (born Lauren Gofton), drummer Johnny X (real name Pete Gofton, Lauren's brother), lead guitarist and occasional vocalist Marie du Santiago (born Marie Nixon) and bassist Emmy-Kate Montrose (born Emma Jackson). The band's name comes from their favourite character in the 1970s film Grease. Kenickie achieved moderate success in the 1990s with an energetic and melodic punk rock sound, influenced by bands like The Buzzcocks and The Slits. Their music is characterized by ironic and sarcastic lyrics that tackle social and personal themes. Some of their most representative songs include "It's Alright", "The One" and "I Don't Want to Be Your Friend". The group released three studio albums: "Get a Life" (1996), "The Last of the Teenage Idols" (1998) and "The Best of Kenickie" (2000). After the release of their third album, the band disbanded.

My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
