Manilla Road was an American heavy metal band formed in Wichita, Kansas in 1977. Considered pioneers of the power metal genre, they influenced numerous subsequent bands with their epic sound and fantasy lyrics. The group was led by the charismatic singer and guitarist Mark Shelton, known for his powerful voice and memorable melodies. Among the most representative songs are "Metal Warriors", "The Deluge" and "Crystal Logic". Manilla Road released a dozen studio albums between 1980 and 2006, gaining a loyal following in the metal world. Shelton died in 2018, leaving a lasting musical legacy.
