Shot in the dark

Well, you see, it was very late at night
I was just about thinkin' about goin' home, uh
After all, I didn't have many people comin' in to see me too often
There's not much call for private detectives in this town anymore
Occasional divorce case and
Maybe some, uh, somebody want me to cover up for them for some blackmail or somethin', but
Was just about to get up from my desk
When all of sudden
Into my office walked the hottest girl I ever did see

She struck me like a match
I mean this girl was hot
There had to be a catch
I gave it my best shot
Her eyes, cool and hard
Got me talking fast
No, it won't take long
To have this case wrapped up

I didn't know
But I fell in love
I only knew
That she was worth taking a chance on
A shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark

She said it was desperation that made her come to me
I said my compensation would be to set her free
She had to have a man stay both day and night
She put a treasure in my hand, within, I held her life

Uh, uh, I didn't know
But I fell in love
I only knew
That she was worth taking a chance on
A shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark

All of a sudden, the lights went out
I couldn't see her but I, I heard her shout
Then in the dark, there came a

Shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark

I didn't know
But I lost my love
I only knew
That she was worth taking a chance on

A shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark
A shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot in the dark, a shot
