Samson was a British hard rock band formed in 1977 by guitarist and vocalist Paul Samson. The original lineup also included future Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, then known as "Bruce Bruce", and drummer Thunderstick (Barry Graham), famous for his leather mask and performances in a metal cage. Clive Burr, who would later play with Iron Maiden, was a member of the band both before and after his tenure with Dickinson. Mel Gaynor, also a successful musician, was part of the group before joining Simple Minds for over 20 years. Samson is best known for its first three albums, characterized by a powerful and aggressive sound typical of British hard rock of the 1980s. Among the most representative songs are "Riding with the Angels", "Head On" and "Powerhouse".
