Written about to death
Around for another breath
The cops will run
The masses will flow
Killed by consolidation
Killed by saturation
The underground will correct
With reaction rebellion
Rock and roll around my head
Alive and kicking
Rock and roll around my head
Fifty watts happening
Rock and roll around my head
Like a six string belief
The declaration framed the states
Revolution sets the course straight
It was necessary then
And it's necessary now
Corruption in the system
A grass roots insurrection
Could bring them down
Will bring them down
Rock and roll around my head
Alive and kicking
Rock and roll around my head
Fifty watts happening
Rock and roll around my head
Like a six string belief
Son Volt is an American alternative country band formed in Chicago in 1994 by Jay Farrar, former member of Uncle Tupelo. After the latter's disbandment, Farrar gathered some musicians to give life to Son Volt, who immediately achieved success with their debut album "Trace" (1995). The band's sound is characterized by a mix of country rock, folk and psychedelia, influenced by artists like Neil Young, The Byrds and Gram Parsons. Among the most representative songs of Son Volt are "Drown", "Windfall" and "The World Won't End". Over the years, the group has released several successful albums, including "Straightaways" (1996), "Scenes from the Suburbs" (2000) and "American Central Dust" (2005). Jay Farrar remains the only original member of the band, which has gone through various formations throughout its history.
