Waylon Arnold Jennings (1937-2002) was a legendary American singer and guitarist, considered one of the pioneers of the outlaw country movement. Born in Texas, Jennings began his career in the 1950s as a supporting musician for various country artists. In 1964 he achieved his first success with "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line". Throughout the 1970s, Jennings emerged as a key figure in outlaw country, a movement that rejected the conventions of the Nashville Sound and embraced a more rock-and-roll and independent style. He collaborated with artists like Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash, forming the supergroup known as "The Highwaymen".
