The 3rd and the Mortal were a Norwegian experimental metal band founded in Trondheim in 1992 by Rune Hoemsnes, Finn Olav Holthe, Geir Nilssen, Trond Engum and vocalist Kari Rueslatten. Initially defining themselves as a doom metal band, they mixed distorted guitars and heavy drumming with clean guitars and Rueslatten's female vocals.
