Vreid è un gruppo musicale norvegese di black metal formatosi nel 2004 a seguito dello scioglimento dei Windir, dopo la tragica scomparsa del cantante e fondatore Valfar (Valgeir Örnes). Il nome Vreid deriva dal termine norreno che significa "scontro", riflettendo l'energia e la potenza musicale della band. I membri superstiti dei Windir, in particolare il chitarrista Sture Drevland e il batterista Jørn H.
