Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1994. The name derives from the Icelandic word for 'victory rose', reflecting the band's poetic and melancholic vision. The original lineup included Jónsi Birgisson (vocals, guitar), Georg Hólm (guitar), Águst Hlöðversson (bass) and Orri Páll Dýrason (drums). Over the years, the band has collaborated with numerous artists, including Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir.
